One to remember...

So I woke up this morning with the thought of skipping out on the first hour of church...my excuses: it's the toughest hour, I'd have time to make a great breakfast for everyone, one extra hour to get ready, etc. Now, this is not an all the time thought. I was not raised in a home where we just "skipped out" because we felt like it. I don't now feel like "skipping out" is ok. Why did I feel like that this morning? In my mind I went back & forth. Then the first (with many yet to follow) fights between the kids reared it's ugly head. My next thought...We NEED to go. Mostly because I was less likely to LOSE IT on my kids if we were there...with witnesses.
Anyways, we got there to find a packed parking lot and an even more packed chapel. Guess where that landed us & our naughty, fighting kids?? Front row, man. I looked up on the stand and there was one of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Hales. He was there for a baby blessing, and was going to be the concluding speaker. There was also a missionary homecoming. The talks were wonderful, the testimonies were amazing.
The thought to skip out on church left my mind this morning as quickly as it entered, and the next thought I had was that there was a reason we needed to be there today. At church I thought of how blessed we were to be sitting so close to an Apostle. What a great memory for my kids. What a great lesson for me.
I would like to say that the meeting went off without a hitch for us...not so much. Sam was ON ONE. He even announced (from the front row in a not so quiet voice) "I farted.", and "I farted on you, Matt." Help. Let me just say that he was being so naughty, that when he said that it was like comic relief for me...he was THAT bad today.
I would love to say that the day got better. Not really. Sam got to spend time being reverent at home in the office after church (that's the rule), there has been more fighting & I have a headache. However, I will never trade this lesson on promptings, my testimony of doing what is right, and the naughty words from my children...that someday will make me smile...hopefully.

Now, anyone want to meet up for a Girl's Night Out this week?? I really need a break.

Wow...good for you! No matter how wiped out I am before church...I am always energized and glad I went after the fact. (A Sunday nap doesn't hurt either...)

Wow thats why I have had only one child at the moment cause carson is in his terrible threes that for sure. I told my friend once is it bad to want to beat your own child sh laughed and said no thats normal. Just hang in there only because we have to. I am always up for a girls night out if you cant find any of your friends available. Hope it gets better.

How about Girls Week Out? One of those experiences where I laugh but it takes the parents a few days to get over it. GREAT story!

I stayed home. I'm wicked like that. Plus, I had a migraine hangover...is that a good excuse? You are a good example, I should follow you.

I am so glad that you decided to not skip out on that meeting. It was a really great meeting. The spirit was so strong. And if it's any consolation, I didn't see or hear any of the naugtiness coming from the front row, and you were in my view. You know I am ALWAYS up for a girls night out and now our husbands owe us one anyways!
