I'm the meanest person in the whole wide world...

...according to this guy.

... and in case you were wondering, I ruined her life.

Yea, it's been that kind of day.

SHE EATS!!!

So this kid...not a big eater.
At all.
She has a pretty interesting array of things she likes.
*plain pasta
*cheese (sometimes & usually only if it's grated)
*broccoli
*chicken salad sandwich (on whole grain bread with sunflower seeds & sprouts...I don't get it, either)
*cereal
*the occasional chicken nugget
**and all of this pretty much depends on her mood.

She's not into meat (what kid doesn't like a hamburger or a meatball???), she will, however eat most fruit.

This is my first picky eater. My boys will just about eat anything. I'm all about serving her what everyone else is having, like it or not. I'm not a short order cook, for crying out loud and will not make a separate meal. However, she is #4 and sometimes I am a slacker in that area. Don't judge.
Anywho...
She sampled a sandwich at the grocery store today. I told her it was chicken salad (even though it was actually roast beef & didn't look anything like chicken)
She loved it.
LOVED IT.

Roast beef with cracked black pepper on whole wheat bread with mayo.
I still don't get it, but if she'll eat it, I'll buy it.

happy 6th!!...

Guess who had a Birthday over the weekend???
Sam
(aka King for a day)

He got to ride his new scooter in the house for ONE DAY before being taken outside. That was almost cooler than the scooter, itself.

Bowling Alley Birthday party!!!!!
(smartest party I've ever done)

He seriously has the CUTEST group of friends.
They were a riot!

Ooooooh!! The excitement!!!
Weren't birthdays as a kid just the best?

How about a little frosting?
They loved the giant cupcakes. I mean, they loved licking all of the frosting off of the giant cupcakes.
Thank you, Costco.
The day was finished off by attending a baseball game with dad. He had a great time and felt very spoiled. Funny how that happens when you're the only child for a few hours!
We love you Birthday boy!!
Thanks for making life super exciting & making us laugh!!

homework...

Something exciting/entertaining/naughty usually happens when this character sits down to do his homework.

We were in a little bit of a rush to get this one done (which as ANY parent of a five year old knows...you can't rush ANYTHING.)
He started out by writing an incomplete sentence. Easily corrected, right? WRONG. Especially if your rushed five year old gets mad if something on the homework needs to be changed. No matter how gentle or positive the delivery is from me. I had him re-read what he wrote and asked him what it needed. He didn't answer. I suggested adding "the" before "cat." Still, no answer...maybe a few choice words for me...from him, though. This went back and forth. He finally GRABBED the paper and added an "s" to cat. Smarty pants.
This was last night's homework. It speaks for itself.
He's handing it in as is.

His teacher is young and cute and thinks he's hilarious (he's lucky, this will not always be the case). Guess she'll get a good laugh today.

Mother's Day...

These are always my favorite.
Thanks Sammy! He takes after his brother when guessing my weight. He knows what it takes to be the new favorite!!

Another favorite...

...I'm glad I'm as helpful as a pencil!

A new favorite...
String art. Love it.
I got two books full of string art that they have been working on throughout the year.
They were so proud of themselves, and so happy to give them as a gift.
I was so happy to receive them!
And this one is just plain cute.
I was inspired by my friend Kelley to inspire my mom (see how I work?) to make a skirt for Lizzie while she was in town last week.
I found some cute fabric and she got busy (without a pattern, mind you). I told her what I wanted it to look like and voila. It was completed in about an hour.
The shirt was left in my care. Not too bad for my first attempt at applique.
Thanks mom!
Happy Mother's Day!!

skate & destroy...

This boy (Zach) LOVES to skateboard.
LOVES it.
He just gave his old board to Matt and bought this sweet new board from a neighbor kid for $10.
He was thrilled.
Look out Tony Hawk...
Zach is on his way!
