sweet Sammy...

The full days of first grade have caught up with this little boy. This morning he collapsed in my arms, crying, telling me he didn't want to go to school. "First grade takes soooo long." I was crushed. It broke my heart.
Sam has been looking forward to the whole idea of first grade for a long time. He was super excited to buy hot lunch, walk to and from school, be big like his brothers, etc. He loved Back to School night and has been so excited for homework (??????).
After breakfast, a few pep talks from Matt, Zach, Mom & Dad...he walked out the door happily and ready to go.
I'm not overly concerned. I understand that the transition from Kindergarten can be a rough one. I know he will be fine and end up loving it. I just can't wait to hug him when he walks in the door. I've missed having him around. Seriously. I know.
I even sat and looked at baby pictures of him today. Sappy? Perhaps. I don't care.
Let's hope for a better morning tomorrow!

Oh! My Mateo is having a rough start in Kindergarten. He was so excited to go to school the first day . . . and it's been a struggle ever since. I went to eat lunch with him today (and check up on him). Of course, he wanted me to take him home right after lunch.

once again i will say, I sure do wish Zach was going with him to school. Sam's a tough little guy, he will get through this like a champ.

That is so cute! I'm sure he will get over it quickly as kids do.

I totally cried when I dropped Maddie off for Kindergarten this afternoon!!!

Like Jennie said, Sam is such a tough guy I sometimes forget how young he is. He is a sweet little kid. I love him so much. We all hit the wall from time to time.

How hard! You just want to let them stay home for the day. Well...maybe not.

It's a good thing he has great brothers to cheer him on.

The beginning of the school year is so hard! At least he has his brothers to look up to!

Oh that's so hard! I miss them when they're gone too.

Sammy is the best and I know how hard that is especially when they fall in your arms like that.... at times I wish we could have Summer all year long! Just to keep them close to us!

Oh, mama. I feel your pain! Why can't I love them this much when they're around all the time?

My oldest had such a hard time with first grade. She went from loving school to complaining all the time. I was so worried. By second it had resolved itself but it took her awhile. This is why I cannot understand full-day kindergarten!

This is the post that I was dying to comment on and couldn't because of computer problems...

Brian is having a hard time, too. They have full day Kindergarten, here but he is finding first grade so much harder. It breaks my heart when he cries. He has collapsed in my arms, too...I cried with him, poor little man.

Here's to it getting easier for both of them.
