wee bit offended...

So, in reading up on the latest on the political scene (my favorite past time. Seriously.) I've found that white, middle class women are being referred to as "Wal Mart Moms". Now before anyone tells me I'm WAY off track...I'm really not. Technically, this refers to working women in the 40-50 age range. I'm not far from that age bracket (yay) and I work. I work really hard (at home).

Still, I take offense.

How about "Target Mom" at the very least, or "Costco Mom", I'd even settle for "K Mart Mom"...at least Martha peddles her stuff there. I'm not saying I HATE Wal Mart. I shop there occasionally. Someday (if you're really lucky) I'll even share my Wal Mart philosophy with you on how great the place is for your self esteem. It's good. It's really good.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a nice day!

I take pride in my status as a Wal Mart mom. Seriously, I'm the best looking woman in the store...what's not to love.

I am right there with you, I will happily be called a "Target Mom". But, I will not answer to The "W" Mom!

You make me laugh Diane!

I am offended! I HATE Wal-Mart! I NEVER shop there. I am taking the title of "Target Mom".

I KNOW!!

I heard that and was a bit miffed.

Target all the way.

I would vote for Costco mom too. I do not have a Walmart near by so I can proudly say I am NOT the Walmart mom.

I loved when I was a 'soccer mom'...but none of my kids play anymore. I do shop at Wal-Mart (good prices on groceries) but I've made it a game now to see if I can get out of the store without being spoken to by a Wal-Mart Associate. I win 99% of the time. The ONLY friendly/helpful associates at my Wal-Mart are the greeters. You know, the 80+ year old people who say 'hi' and 'bye'. The others are all too busy with their personal lives (chatting with their friends) to actually do their job and help the customers. (But I'm not bitter!)

The closest Wal-Mart is like 8 countries away from me...but, if it were closer, I'd happily be a Wal-Mart Mom. There is something so great about a store like that or Target or K-Mart - one stop shopping is a real luxury.

You, like Diane don't look like a Wal-Mart Mom, so shop with pride knowing everyone is admiring your cute hair and fashionable clothes.

You crack me up! I'm pretty much on the same page as you are. I DO go there quite a bit because like mentioned in earlier posts, it's kind of a "1 stop Shop". Our Walmart has a craft section. (even Martha's line now!) wooooohooooo~ Hey, I can get apples for lunches AND cute ribbon, ric rac and glue sticks....what's not to love about that. I do like to go REALLY early so I don't have to deal with the screaming kids and mean moms. Truly it can be a scary experience!

What about me, the McDonald's Mom? Do they have a demographic for that one yet?

Really? you would rather be called a K-mart mom? Annemarie you know what that implies. And I know you don't beat your kids THAT often. You are definitely a Target mom to me! and you know you can't deny it

WalMart is just plain icky. Seriously, I feel like I need a bath whenever I have to go in there. Plus, there are never enough checkers.

Target, on the other hand, I LOVE!

I vote we be called "Target Moms"!

I can't stand Walmart. It goes against true capitalism but that is a discussion for another day.
By they way I think you are more of a "Sax Fifth Avenue Mom" if my opinion counts.

miss you

Every time I have entered a Wal-Mart I see someone beating their kids and others just act like it is normal. Honestly, people pull up in their RV's and camp there too! I think that says enough. But I LOVE Target!

I agree with you that walmart helps your self esteem. John always tells me that if I'm ever feeling bad about myself, I should go to Walmart or Lagoon. Either one of those places give you an instant self esteem boost. Especially if you go to walmart late at night. Don't do it.
