John, Matt & Zach headed off to Scout camp for the week. The eleven year old scouts were invited by the older scouts to join them on their campout, and so they geared up & headed out.
The staging area:
This is one of John's MOST favorite things to do. Seriously.
He had more fun getting the three of them prepared for this trip than they will actually have on the trip.
And the sad boy who didn't get to go.
Think his smile will be this big at the end of the week?

Those guys are following the scout motto...be prepared. I'm glad nobody has been hugging a tree. Can't wait to hear of their big adventures.
I do love the hats.
Congrats on getting them out of cub scout camp so you dont' have to go! We are there all week and it's over 100 degrees and I wanna die. Most husbands run around the night before demanding to know, "Where is the _______?" because they can't find anything. Congrats on finding the one man in the world who actually follows the boy scout motto.
Where is the DVD player, iphones and Ipod, and what is the broom and dustpan for? Isn't the point of camping dirt?
Oh man - what's a mom to do with her oldest men out scout camping! How is little Sam holding up?
If someone would get me ready I would go camping anytime...but the WORK!!! I am glad John enjoys it!
p.s. I need plumbing too! :)
Poor Sam. But, there is lots of camping in his future, thank goodness. That is a mound of equipment, wow! Did they take the camera too?
That is so fun! They will have a blast!!
pocket knives? check

They definitely look ready! I'm sure they will have a great time!
It was so fun to see you last night!

wow - that looks like work! Hope they have a good time!
mika was ready to throw in the towel on scouting, and then he hit age 11.
he comes home all giddy and says "11 year old scouts is WAY better, mom! they let us play with FIRE!"
who am i to question?? we'll make new meaning of the phrase "blazing a path to eagle."
I love how you called it the, "staging area". I am so impressed with the organization! I also love how everything is lined up neatly by the driveway.
Evan turns 12 this Sunday...I can't believe he will be an official Scout. (I don't think we will be nearly as organized...Maybe John can fly out to help us...
