This backpack (the one on the right) has been home to many a treasure lately. Everyday when I go through Sam's backpack I am lucky enough to find a few extra things...
This isn't the actual rock. The rock made it's way back outside (where all rocks belong). When I went to find it to take a picture (yea, I like taking pictures of rocks...) it was gone. I'll probably find it in his backpack tomorrow.
A stack of flyer's (no doubt collected from the many houses he passes on his way home) Now our neighbors will have no idea who to call for their lawn care needs this summer...I nominate Sam.
A stick.Typical boy treasure.
A Heineken box.
Awesome.
I either have a 5 year old with a drinking problem (that actually would explain a lot), or a party house in the hood I'm not aware of. I'm hoping it's the latter.

You are very smart to look through his backpack every day, just in case he puts a dead bird in there or something. I also think it's smart because he may start stuffing his backpack remains in his bed. Not that I've experienced this or anything...
That is so funny dude!! Better now than at 15 right?
how funny is that...you have an environmentally friendly kid- cleaning up the neighborhood!
Boys will be boys! Sam is just living up to that!
Ha! How funny...love that he picked up the Heineken box...just the fact that he picked up any trash at all really and stuck it in there :-)!
A Heineken box! That is so funny!! I am learning a lot about boys from your boys! They are too cute!
That is awesome! haha I laughed so hard when I read this. Your kids are the funniest! We were actually talking about sam at my parents house on sunday during dinner. My dad was explaining how sam stuck his head in the scout room and told Bro. Vance he had an ugly face! haha my dad thought it was the funniest thing he has ever heard. We were all dying laughing.
Oh, this post made my day! I am laughing so hard. I love how you said you either have a 5 year old with a drinking problem...and how that would explain a lot.
I love Sam...I know I have never met him but I totally do.
Oh my gosh, that is too funny!!
For Jaxon, it is his dang POCKETS. I find all kinds of stuff in there. Dead crickets, dirt, leaves...
The joy of boys!! :)
yep I definitely think Sam is a closet drinker. what?
The Heineken box made me genuinely laugh. Never a dull moment, eh?
Enjoy the innocent rocks and sticks now. Just think what you'll find in his backback in about ten years or so? YIKES.
I love it especially the heineken starting them young are we hahaha. At least it was nothing crawling or alive thats what my little boy would have brought home. Yuck you gotta love little boys.....
My 6 yr old little man puts things in his backpack too! So cute...well, um, maybe except for the beer case! : )
I loved the photo of your mom on the horse, then you daughter...simply precious!
Good thing you found the Heineken box and not his teacher.
I'm looking forward to finding treasures. This is a sweet post.
I actually have a jar full of 'special rocks' that my children have given me over the years, but none of them have ever brought home a heineken box! What a treasure! I love the things little boys find interesting/important!
That is hilarious. You know what they say about one man's garbage...
So funny! I had to come visit your blog, because I see your comments all the time on other blogs I read...Lauren, Gabi, Shally who I met in the blogging world and then Heather and I taught at the MTC together. Small world. You have a very cute family.
I would like to know the reasons behind the items he brings home; especially that last one.
It's nice to know that the neighborhood is being cleaned up one rock, twig, and beer case at a time. McGruff the Crime Dog would be proud.
If he was FIFTEEN you might need to worry...now, not so much.
Maybe he's planning on making a hat for St. Patrick's Day!
That kids is too ADORABLE. I love being in on those cute treasures!
Oh this is even better than the "soft Porn" that Will looks at. :) Carin is right he is just recycling right?
He's definately a boy, isn't he?
This was so funny because my 6 yr old has the same wacky treasures in his backpack too! Little boys are the best.
Could you email me your address? I have your gift! Hope you like it... :)

I think that Heineken box was left outside the party animals living in the Jackson's house...
We have found beer bottles in our backyard from time to time, problem is that someone in our house DID use them. Stinker.
It's cute that Sam has gone so green on you.
Seriously this post cracked me up. I so know what you mean. I have had a trainer for a little while now. I love her but I also love to hate her. The other day she was like we are going to have a high rep day, I said ok. I had no idea her idea of high rep and mine were way off. Plus she was a u of u gymnist so you can imagine what she looks like screw her and her perfect body........
