Another "sweet" field trip...

Zach & Matt got to go on a "sweet" field trip (their words...) to Antelope Island. After reading the note that came home reminding to dress and prepare your child like they are being dropped off in the mountains and will have to find their way home (hats, sunscreen, bug spray, etc...mind you, it is 40 something degrees and cloudy...), the boys came upstairs dressed and ready (I sooooo wish I had a pic of that!) John could hardly stop laughing. They were prepared alright...complete with binoculars and everything! We let them take our old digital camera and I would like to share with you the "sweet" field trip through their eyes. (Think of a popular 80's movie..."Course three minutes to Wapner...") If you don't catch my drift scroll down and I'll fill you in.

The view from the bus window...
The ground...
bison poop...
more bison poop...

The reason for the reference to "Rainman" is because of the pics shown during the closing credits of the movie. Just random pics taken by Ray while driving in the car...that is what these pics reminded me of!

They had a BLAST and came home with pockets full of rocks and some "sweet" pictures of their day!

I have a problem...

My sister "outed" herself with her addiction to lip gloss. So I'm taking a lesson from my older (sorry Di), wiser sister and "coming clean"...the first step is admitting you have a problem...right?
I can't stop buying shoes for Lizzie. It started out as buying for myself, but I've moved on (oh don't you worry...I still take care of dressing my feet...I'm sure you were just sick with worry until I stated that...) This is one (of many) area that I am just not practical. I LOVE that I can use the excuse that her older siblings are boys, therefore...no hand-me-downs. Pity, huh? And yes, those all fit her now...(there are more...they just didn't fit in the pic ;)!

Who are you wearing???

We attended an awards ceremony...the "Emma Awards"...this was a riot! Tiaras & boas were optional...I opted out of both of those choices and chose to stitch some ever so classy sequins to my t-shirt...look out Project Runway!

The red carpet...complete with paparazzi!

Oh, that's right ladies...show us what you're made of!

The centerpieces (spray-painted Aunt Jemima's)...clever, huh?

Workin' the red carpet...oh wait...OWNING the red carpet!!

This was such a fun evening, and what a great idea! Everyone recieved an award (a wooden spoon with a ribbon tied around it), and seriously, when do we get the chance to dress up? I certainly don't go to Target in this get-up...but I might now...

my boys...

I stole the idea for this post from my sister's blog...she posted a picture of her boys who my boys look up to almost as much as their own dad! Zach & Matt LOVE Evan & Jordan sooo much. I feel so lucky that they have such great role models.
Matt & Zach are amazing kids...we are very lucky parents. They are doing so good in school, they are nice and patient, they have a lot of friends, and they are so stinking cute!! (I got a report a few weeks ago that they were told that they are "like the second and third cutest boys in the fourth grade", and they wear that comment like an Olympian wears a gold medal)
I {HEART} these guys!!!

Look out...

John got a ticket yesterday...

John ran a yellow light...

John SWEARS (not literally) that said light stays yellow for a much less time than most yellow lights...

John timed said light and many others in the area last night to prove his theory...

John set out with the video camera this morning (no lie) to tape said light and others in the area...

John is determined to fight & overthrow this ticket...

GO, John, GO!

WANTED...maid...

Ever have one of those days when you feel like the ONLY thing you are doing is cleaning up after the {little} people that reside under the same roof as you? (OK, I'm laughing right now because I just realized what a stupid question that was...) ANY mom with little kids, big kids, pets, etc has felt this way MANY times. We are stuck at home today...the 4-year-old has strep throat (sorry to the many whose kids played at our house last week...) On a day when we would normally be running all of the errands I forgot to take care of on Saturday...WE ARE HOME FOR THE ENTIRE DAY!! Don't get me wrong...stay at home days are great, when preplanned. The impromptu stay at home days stink.
Back to the maid thing...I've cleaned up play-doh, crayons & coloring books, dishes, pop-up tents, stuffed animals, an entire box of wipes spread throughout a two-year-old's room, tupperware, cups, plates & bowls from two cupboards, noses, bums...Not to mention the stuff that just needed to be done because... well, because they just needed to be done...laundry, vacuuming, a bathroom, wipe up sticky spots on the floor...blah, blah, blah. (This ALL took place before noon...)
I can hear some of you now (and you know who you are) "Let it go!" "Who cares as long as they're busy and having fun?" Sorry, I'm just too OCD. Yea, I know, THEY should be the ones to clean it up...again with the OCD.
So, I'm not looking for sympathy...I lied...I'm TOTALLY looking for sympathy and attention because I KNOW I'm the only mom who has EVER had a day like this...
