gingerbread hood...

We had our cute friends, the Woolley's over to decorate gingerbread houses...
8 kids=8 houses!
(the parents just chatted and ate house decor. That's the way it's supposed to go, right?)

The happy decorators...

Taking a break to be a princess. A must during any activity.
The completed projects.
I think they did a fabulous job!!

I will mention that Zach spent most of his decorating time building a skateboard ramp out of marshmallows and NOT decorating the house...and Matt decorated one side of his roof. That's it.

Gheesh...no appreciation.

My favorite is looking over at the table and seeing someone's mouth chowing on a house. Pretty funny!

They (we all) had a great time.
Next year, guys??

What a fun thing to do! Maddie has been asking me if we can do a gingerbread house. I will have to just buy one of those kits at the store.

Their houses turned out cute!

Oh, my gosh, Annemarie!!!!!!!

Janelle Woolley is the one that got me into blogging!!! Well, she doesn't really know that per se... let me tell you the story...

I have a friend from Virginia named Jaime that started a blog. I had just moved to Georgia and was lonely for home and she called me to tell me to look up her blog for family updates. I read Jaime's blog faithfully and after about 2 years I noticed that a friend named Janelle had commented on Jaime's blog. (Jaime knew Janelle and Janelle's boyfriend, now husband, at BYU) I didn't know that lurking was acceptable back then, so when I lurked on Janelle's blog I felt I was doing something morally wrong. But, I kept on lurking because I was really impressed with her amazing home renovations, and her writing skills and her adorable kids.

So, anyway...one time Janelle wrote this awesome post and linked Paige...so...I went on over to Paige's blog and instantly fell in love with her humor. Then, I started lurking on Jessica Romney's blog because of the funny comments she left on Paige's blog. Eventually, I began lurking on a lot of people in our blogging circle until I finally revealed myself.

Janelle noticed that I had commented on my friend from Virginia's blog and Paige's blog and asked told me that she knew both ladies and wondered how I knew them both. I wrote Janelle a huge long comment confessing that I had begun lurking on all of these wonderful bloggers' blogs thanks to her.

If I am not mistaken, Janelle grew up with Paige and Celia in California. Small world!

Does Janelle live on your street? Did you already know that she knows Paige and Celia?

Oh, by the way...I love the gingerbread houses!

I did not get any of the crafting, cooking, creative genes.

You and your gingerbread monopoly are awe inspiring.

Mom will love this. Maybe you can teach Brynn some day.

Go gingerbreads - I get sooo super competitive when the decorating begins. I usually bring all of my own supplies!

What a party -- and so smart putting the kids in charge of the decorating.

Do you have a failsafe gingerbread recipe? You must, those houses look perfect! Please share.

I am afraid that I am not a gingerbread mom. I will be requiring a post detailing EXACTLY how you made those houses. My poor kids are just deprived, I tell you.

I need that detailed post on exactly how you did it too. Mine NEVER look like that. On the years I actually make gingerbread they are about half or maybe even less that size. But usually I just use store bought grahm crackers. YOU ROCK!!

They turned out absolutely awesome. And all of your worrying was in vain!! Once again, you have gone above and beyond. But seriously, I would not expect any less from you! So so so cute.

Very nice!! And what a small, small world it is (re: Lauren's comment). AND...that little girl of yours gets cuter every second!!!

We make graham cracker houses at our house.

I am so not talented like you are!!!

You are a better mom than I. I'm too scared to do gingerbread with my kids.

My favorite FHE activity at BYU was making "gingerbread houses" out of graham crackers. We made tanks, motorhomes, and cars. So I understand the skate ramp deal.
